What is Lola’s Hope Inc.?

Lola's Hope

Lola’s Hope Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by families impacted by Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma (SBS/AHT). Lola’s Hope Inc. provides support to victim families and works to prevent SBS/AHT through education and awareness efforts. Some examples of our endeavors include:

  • Speaking and providing education to groups such as the Milwaukee Center for Independence’s SmartBaby program for expectant moms
  • Providing Shaken Baby Prevention training in local high schools which meets requirements set forth by Wisconsin law
  • Providing Shaken Baby Prevention training to childcare providers which meets requirements set forth by Wisconsin law
  • Presenting at conferences including the International Conference on Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma (presented in Denver in 2014 and in Montreal in 2016), WECA Annual Childcare Conference and Waukesha County Childcare Appreciation Dinner
  • Distributing educational materials and raising awareness at fairs, parades, and community events
  • Hosting community events such as Trunk or Treat and Bowling for Babes
  • Working with the Waukesha County Victim/Witness Assistance Program to establish a monthly SBS support group facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker (first of its kind in the state)
  • Accompanying families of victims to court proceedings
  • Hosting events to foster family networking and give families an often much needed opportunity for socialization and sense of “normalcy”
  • Online awareness efforts and family support

Mission Statement

The mission of Lola’s Hope is to support families impacted by shaken baby syndrome and prevent shaken baby syndrome through education, awareness and community outreach.

Family

Lola’s Hope believes that the entire family is victimized when a child is abused. We believe in the importance of acknowledging this fact, providing ongoing support for the whole family and fostering a network for families to connect and relate.

Community

Lola’s Hope believes that families impacted by child abuse belong in the community and have fundamental moral, civil and constitutional rights to be fully included and actively participate in all aspects of society. We believe in contributing to society and demonstrating corporate social responsibility.

Integrity

Lola’s Hope conducts its business with integrity, accountability, and open, honest and timely communication. We believe in acting with honesty and honor without compromising the truth.

Empowerment

Lola’s Hope seeks to be inspiring in all its activities and interactions with the belief in the importance of empowering others to do great things. We believe in encouraging volunteers and families to take initiative and always give their best.

What is "Lola’s Hope"?

Lola is a survivor of shaken baby syndrome/abusive head trauma.

Lola’s Hope is that other children can be spared from the suffering that she endured. Lola’s Hope is that we can provide a safety net for families impacted by child abuse. Lola’s Hope is for a world in which children are safe, valued and free from abuse.
